Last fantasy draft tonight

Tonight at 11:30 pm or so my last fantasy football draft of the year will begin. I'm in four different leagues this year and I'll be some what sad when the draft's over cus the draft is perhaps the most fun part of being involved with fantasy sports, followed closely by trades. Every year I am faced with the same problem: be cold-hearted and pick the best available player or let my heart do the talking and take players I like from teams I like.

Since I'm involved in at least four leagues with every sport, I try to dedicate at least one team, usually one not doing so well, to following my heart; hence I end up with a team composed almost entirely of Redskins players or Orioles or Wizards. My other teams though, the ones with a chance of winning, are sometimes filled with players I dislike and that takes some of the fun out of it. Yeah having T.O. on my team might help me win but there's no way I'm ever rooting for T.O. to do well and obviously I'd never hope the Cowboys succeed. The best of all worlds of course would be to have a team stacked with likable players that are also good, but that's hard to achieve and I've rarely been able to pull off that double feat.

For my baseball draft I've been known to select Mike Mussina every year, usually in a spot too high for his relative worth. Now the back story here is that Moose was the man for the Orioles when they were good in the late 90's and his departure to the Yankees can be considered the start of the sucky period the Orioles are currently in. So he's near and dear to my heart and I draft him whenever I can. Since usually I pick him ahead of people like Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson, he's almost always still available because other people are being smart and taking pitchers who are ranked higher then good old Moose. Of course this year my friends let me forget when our draft was and so this was the first year I didn't have Mussina on my team in about five years and of course Moose goes out and has his best season in years (until his recent injury). So even when i want to draft with my heart I get screwed. As I said, its hard to have a team that you both like and that has a chance of winning.

Now I won't go into my draft strategy tonight because there's an off chance some of the people participating in the draft might read this before hand but I will say that there's a strong possibility that if available, Portis, Moss, Cooley and company will be welcomed aboard my team with open arms. Full analysis tomorrow. Wish me luck.
