Before my sister left for college I made her switch laptops with me. She has/had an Apple iBook G4 and I had a Dell Inspiron 700M. I wanted to switch for a variety of reasons, primarily because Apple's have a reputation for being easier to use for video editing (I have a soon to be released video project in the works), but also because I get restless quite easily and like new toys to play around with. My sister, before getting the Apple a lifelong PC user, was unable to function without a right-click button and despite her almost lunatic fear of change, she agreed to the trade.
Shortly after the trade Dell announced it was recalling over a million laptop batteries, including ones from the same Dell model I had just forced upon my sister. Of course as soon as news of the recall reached my mother and sister I was on the receiving end of a wide variety of angry emails and accusations, saying I acted in bad faith and that I had to switch back, etc. etc.. It took about ten seconds to find out through the Dell website that the battery in the laptop, now my sister's, was not among those being recalled and there was in fact no danger that her laptop would catch fire, leading to her death.
Since the momentary rage/panic of my sister/mother Apple has come out with a battery recall of their own. And of course, as you've probably already guessed, my "new" laptop has a battery that's being recalled. So after all that, after forcing my sister to switch computers, I'm the one who gets screwed. Karma baby. Karma.
I miss my apple. This dell sucks.
