New D.C. College Basketball Poll

Dan Steinberg, writer of WashingtonPost.com's fantastic Sports Bog , has started a new local college basketball top 11 poll. I'm lucky enough to be one of the voters. Today was the polls big debut. Here are the eligible teams:

ACC: Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech
America East: UMBC
Atlantic 10: George Washington, Richmond
Big East: Georgetown
Big South: Liberty, Radford, VMI
CAA: George Mason, James Madison, Old Dominion, Towson, VCU, William & Mary
Independent: Longwood
MAAC: Loyola
MEAC: Coppin State, Hampton, Howard, Morgan State, Norfolk State, UM-Eastern Shore
Northeast: Mount St. Mary's
Patriot League: American, Navy

My ballot that I submitted this morning went as follows:

1. Maryland
2. Virginia
3. GW
4.Georgetown
5. Old Dominion
6. Virginia Commonwealth
7. Navy
8.American
9. Liberty
10. George Mason

You can see the inaugural poll by clicking here. My ballot was fairly representative of the overall views. The general consensus seemed to be there aren't really enough good teams to make a real top 11 at this point. Anyway the poll will be posted every Monday on the Sports Bog so check it out, should be fun. Also, if you are a sports fan in general, and a Washington sports fan specifically, then you really should be reading the Sports Bog everyday. It is, in a word, fantastic.
