Congrats Cal…and Tony

Like there was any chance this wouldn't happen: Today Cal Ripken, Jr (my favorite baseball player of all-time) and Tony Gywnn were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Cal got 98.53% of the vote and Gywnn got 97.6%. Cal's 98.53% is the third highest percentage all-time. The only real intrigue here was how Mark McGwire would do and the answer to that was: not very well. Guy only got 23.5% of the vote, well short of the 75% needed to get in.

Also, to the writer who won't vote for anyone who played during the "steroid era" I'm going to second the Big Lead: give up your vote and stop embarrassing yourself. To the seven other writers who didn't vote for Cal: you are now dead to me.
