Denver it is

The DNC has announced that they have chosen Denver as the site of the 2008 convention over New York. Good call Chairman Dean; Denver, despite having a bit of a problem with a lack of union hotels, is the right choice. New York is played out (the RNC had their convention there in '04) and the Midwest is an emerging power center for Democrats.

"There is no question that the West is important to the future of the Democratic Party. The recent Democratic gains in the West exemplify the principle that when we show up and ask for people's votes and talk about what we stand for, we can win in any part of the country," Dean said in a statement.

Getting away from New York can only help fight back the dumbass media-image that the Dems are the party of the coastal elites. Plus I've heard good things about Denver and I've always wanted to really visit the place (various family ski trips don't count. The convention is August 25th to August 28th. The RNC convention starts September 1st in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Bit of an odd choice on the RNC's part as they are on the downswing in Minnesota but sucks for them.
