Holla at your boy (updated)
Gots to give big props to my man Caron Butler and also to Eddie Jordan today as both are headed out to Vegas. Caron found out yesterday that he'll be joining Gilbert in Vegas for the All-Star game and Eddie Jordan gets the honor of being the East's coach do to the Wizards having the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Caron's been having a pretty great year:
Butler " is averaging career highs in several categories including scoring (20.6 points per game), rebounding (eight per game), assists (3.9 per game) and shooting percentage (47.8).
Like I said, pretty great. The thing I love about Caron though is the toughness and effort he brings every game. Him and Stevenson have been invaluable this year and they've brought an intangible that the Wizards haven't had before (certainly not when Jefferies was starting for us last year). And despite the fact that I still don't get Eddie's rotations (and frankly I don't think he does either), what he's done this year, in leading us to the best record in the East and supervising Gilbert's rise to stardom and Caron making it to an all-star level, the guy deserves everything coming his way.
With Jamison out Caron better keep ballin' and Eddie keep coaching, otherwise we could be in a little bit of trouble. It'll be nice to have Songalia back though. Its kinda cool having a really good team in Washington for a chance. Almost makes up for how much the Redskins sucked this year. Almost.
UPDATED: I missed this in my first read of Ivan Carter's piece on Caron making the team but anytime a NBA star name-checks cheers its got to be mentioned:
"It's really special to be a part of that elite group. It's like 'Cheers.' You want to go where everyone knows your name, where you are recognized as a star. It's a great feeling."
Couldn't have put it better myself.
