So long Sanjaya
Finally, that had gone on way too long:
Sanjaya Malakar, the under-talented but unflappable singer who horrified and captivated millions in his improbable “American Idol” run, was finally voted off the show Wednesday night.
When the result was announced, Malakar wiped away tears and got a big hug from LaKisha Jones, the next lowest vote-getter.
“I’m fine,” he told Ryan Seacrest. “It was an amazing experience.”
“I can promise you: We won’t soon forget you,” Seacrest replied.
The madness had to end sometime. Now I don’t watch American Idol, never have and more then likely never will, but here was my problem with the possibility of Sanjaya winning the thing: if he won he would have tarnished all the previous winners because of how awful he is. No way am I going to stand for Carrie Underwood, or God forbid Kelly Clarkson, being lumped in to the same group as Sanjaya. No how, no way.
Also, lets not cry too much for this guy. I’d say the over/under of him getting his own reality tv show is what, 2 months? Tops? He’s going to be doing alright for himself, despite his lack of talent. Only in America.
