Jesus Christ, forget about yesterday’s pathetic loss, breaking news is that Redskins star safety Sean Taylor was shot at his home in Miami by an intruder last night. Details are sketchy but he was apparently shot in the groin and reports are that he is in “extremely critical condition” and “fighting for his life“. Thoughts go out to Sean and his family. More as news comes in.
Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss) is resigning. Hmm, wonder why? Steve Benen has more.

Facebook is changing, supposedly tonight, its status message tool so that you no longer have to use “is” (i.e. Jake is….). Or at least, thats what’s supposed to happen (maybe not?).
Somehow I missed this but the fantastically hysterical Demetri Martin is getting his own show, called “IMPORTANT THINGS WITH DEMETRI MARTIN”, on Comedy Central in ‘08 and it will be produced by Jon Stewart. From the press release:
“Important Things with Demetri Martin” is a stream-of-consciousness sketch and variety show from comedian Demetri Martin (”The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”). In each episode, Martin analyzes a single topic through the prism of his unique point of view. Topics covered might include everything from “What Happens After We Die” to “Apples.”

“This announcement seems very important,” said Martin. “I’m very excited to be at COMEDY CENTRAL and looking forward to making one of the top shows of all time – ever. Also, I need to clean my apartment and thank Jon Stewart.”
Delightful. Demetri’s website is here. Below, on of his “Trendspotting” pieces from the Daily Show:
Gots to give Gov. Huckabee credit for this ad.
