Apply here for Secretary of State
President-elect Obama and his team have set up a new website, Change.gov, for his transition. Its pretty impressive in its depth, especially considering how quickly they managed to get it up after his victory. In fact I’m going to make the obvious guess that this thing was ready to go even before Tuesday. I wonder what the site would have been called if McCain had won, JoethePlumber.gov?
Of real interest though is the “jobs” section, where you can apply for positions in the new Administration. Yesterday the site was a little spotty because the thousands, maybe even millions, of people like me frantically trying to get through the first part of the application process. The funny thing though is this line on the application page “Some positions will require Senate confirmation while others will not.”. Does this mean I can apply to be Secretary of State or Defense? They probably mean lower level positions but still. Is Senator Kerry or Andy Stern required to go through the online application as well?
