He must be listening with the sound off
John Hinderaker. He’s one of the most prominent bloggers on the right. To give you perhaps a look at the quality of his mind, he’s infamous amongst those on the left for writing the following about one President George W. Bush:
It must be very strange to be President Bush. A man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can’t get anyone to notice. He is like a great painter or musician who is ahead of his time, and who unveils one masterpiece after another to a reception that, when not bored, is hostile
This was sufficently lunatic to win Hinderaker Kevin Drum’s inaugural Golden Wingnut Award. Anyway I say this in preparation of giving you Hinderaker’s latest. Really this one needs to be read to be believed. Here it goes:
Obama thinks he is a good talker, but he is often undisciplined when he speaks. He needs to understand that as President, his words will be scrutinized and will have impact whether he intends it or not. In this regard, President Bush is an excellent model; Obama should take a lesson from his example. Bush never gets sloppy when he is speaking publicly. He chooses his words with care and precision, which is why his style sometimes seems halting. In the eight years he has been President, it is remarkable how few gaffes or verbal blunders he has committed. If Obama doesn’t raise his standards, he will exceed Bush’s total before he is inaugurated.
Did you get that? President-elect Obama needs to take lessons in speaking from, of all people, President Bush. Really? Really. Now you may be saying to yourself “Self, this is one of the dumbest things ever written on the internets” and you’d be right. But wait, it gets even worse. Here’s President Bush himself today in an interview with CNN:
“I regret saying some things I shouldn’t have said,” Bush told CNN’s Heidi Collins when asked to reflect on his regrets over his two terms as president. “Like ‘dead or alive’ and ‘bring ‘em on.’ My wife reminded me that, hey, as president of the United States, be careful what you say.”
Yeah so I guess Hinderaker’s like the dumbest guy in the world. Pretty much.
