You aren’t really following 50 Cent

The NY Times has a blockbuster story in Friday’s paper: Some of the celebs on Twitter….(drum roll)… are using ghostwriters to write their tweets! Its not really 50 Cent! Or Britney! Its some person they’ve hired to promote their brand and make you feel like you are getting closer to them. From the article:

But someone has to do all that writing, even if each entry is barely a sentence long. In many cases, celebrities and their handlers have turned to outside writers — ghost Twitterers, if you will — who keep fans updated on the latest twists and turns, often in the star’s own voice.

Sigh. I enjoy Twitter and I don’t want to be one of those people who thinks now that Twitter has gone a little more mainstream its no longer cool but seriously people. As the great Shaq, easily one of the best users of Twitter, says:

It’s 140 characters. It’s so few characters. If you need a ghostwriter for that, I feel sorry for you.

You said it Shaq. First sign you shouldn’t be on Twitter: You use a ghostwriter. P.S, I’m on Twitter, natch.
