This video has been circulating for a while and I’ve seen it a number of times but I thought I’d share it here, for your viewing pleasure. It features the people who work for Connected Ventures (the people behind College Humor and Vimeo, amongst other things) and it really makes it seem like a pretty cool place to work. When ever I get around to starting my own business this is what its going to be like. Enjoy.

Via my boy Wiley (who continues to supply great internet things) a great Onion piece that, pretty perfectly, describes me at work:
Though 27-year-old paralegal Pete Gossling prides himself on his ability to efficiently accomplish numerous tasks at once, none of these activities is actual work, his coworkers said Tuesday.
“It’s amazing—he’ll be carrying on eight IM conversations at once, keep six web browsers open to different YouTube clips, and still be able to forward e-mail after e-mail of jokes from his uncle,” said legal secretary Jennifer Paige, adding that when Gossling is out of the office, he uses his PDA to compete in several online poker games simultaneously. “I’ve never once received a work-related e-mail from him or seen him working on a legal brief, however.”
Gossling admitted that he often overextends himself so much that work simply isn’t possible.
Yesterday was the first day in the two weeks I’ve been out here where not one meal consisted of Mexican food.
I saw my second celebrity of the trip yesterday, this guy. Oddly, the two celebrities I’ve seen on the trip (this guy too) are both from ER, a show that I do not watch.
As mentioned in the previous post, here are 10 observations I’ve made while out here:
1) Irony: one of my favorite shows is Entourage and yet being out here
caused me to miss it.
2) I throughly enjoy having my bed made everyday and yet while at home
I am incapable of doing this myself.
3) If I even hear the words “Mexican” and “food” in the same sentence
again I will immediately throw up
4) Everyone I know on the East Coast is apparently unaware that
California is three hours behind. Every day some one calls/texts me at
4:30 or 5:30 in the morning my time. (and its not like I’d be up at
7:30 or 8:30 if I was back in DC either)
5) Satellite radio is pretty nice but they only play the same 4 songs
over and over; if I hear that fucking Avril Lagivne song (girlfriend)
one more time I may explode (what happened to avril by the way? when I
first heard that song I thought it was by a 12 year old girl. Thats
not the Avril I remember)
6. Hotel room service is pretty awful but hotel breakfast buffets are
surprisingly good.
7. L.A. traffic is really bad. Also maps that have directions that
dont have North or South on them are essentially useless.
8. Figuring out different shady reasons to claim something as a
business expense is both challenging and fun.
9. Laptops get really really hot when you rest them on your lap.
10. Going to LA on business is not at all what i thought it would be.
Irony: I’m in L.A. for two weeks and yet I miss seeing my favorite show Entourage, a show based in/about L.A. because I’m out here.
Since I now have regular access to the internet I’m going to start posting little updates from L.A.. For instance, I am halfway through this two-week business trip and the only celebrity I’ve seen in this God forsaken place is this guy.
I should mention that posting might be a little irregular for the next few days as I have been sent to LA for work and I’m not sure what my internet availability is going to look like.
I’m going to LA for two weeks next Monday and I was checking out the website of the hotel I’m staying at to see if they had anything like wireless internet available in the rooms or maybe the lobby. From what I could tell they don’t, which is pretty annoying, but what they do offer, listed under business traveler needs, are typewriters. How awesome is that? I don’t think in my life I’ve ever used a typewriter nor do I see any chances in the future that I’ll need one but when I check in to my hotel I’m going to ask if they can have one delivered to my room. I wonder how many they have on site?
