Port Blitz ‘07 #5

Yesterday was the first day in the two weeks I’ve been out here where not one meal consisted of Mexican food.

Port Blitz ‘07 #3

As mentioned in the previous post, here are 10 observations I’ve made while out here:

1) Irony: one of my favorite shows is Entourage and yet being out here
caused me to miss it.
2) I throughly enjoy having my bed made everyday and yet while at home
I am incapable of doing this myself.
3) If I even hear the words “Mexican” and “food” in the same sentence
again I will immediately throw up
4) Everyone I know on the East Coast is apparently unaware that
California is three hours behind. Every day some one calls/texts me at
4:30 or 5:30 in the morning my time. (and its not like I’d be up at
7:30 or 8:30 if I was back in DC either)
5) Satellite radio is pretty nice but they only play the same 4 songs
over and over; if I hear that fucking Avril Lagivne song (girlfriend)
one more time I may explode (what happened to avril by the way? when I
first heard that song I thought it was by a 12 year old girl. Thats
not the Avril I remember)
6. Hotel room service is pretty awful but hotel breakfast buffets are
surprisingly good.
7. L.A. traffic is really bad. Also maps that have directions that
dont have North or South on them are essentially useless.
8. Figuring out different shady reasons to claim something as a
business expense is both challenging and fun.
9. Laptops get really really hot when you rest them on your lap.
10. Going to LA on business is not at all what i thought it would be.

What I’m doing in LA

For those of you curious as to what I’m doing in LA this spells it out a bit.

I love reality TV stars

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner in the best article of the day contest. This once concerns our friend Jason Wahler, former star of Laguna Beach and The Hills. To wit:

Television personality Jason Wahler hurled racial and homophobic invectives at a police officer when he was arrested over the weekend after punching a hotel security guard and passing out drunk in a hallway, a Seattle Police Department report said.

Oh Jason, Jason, Jason. I’d say that I’d didn’t expect this from you but…:

It was Wahler’s third arrest since September, when he punched a city worker and tow-truck driver in Los Angeles. Last month, the judge in that case sentenced him to 60 days in jail — a sentence he was scheduled to serve beginning in May — and ordered him to attend Alcoholics Anonymous classes and a one-day program at the Museum of Tolerance for using racial slurs.

Ok, ok, so you’ve gotten in to some trouble in the past, who among us hasn’t? Glass houses and all right? Well maybe this little incident wasn’t so bad, right? What exactly happened?

The police report said that shortly after midnight on Sunday, officers responded to the Waterfront Marriott hotel. A security guard told them there had been an altercation in the lobby, and that someone wrestled with Wahler to restrain him.

When the guard asked the pair to settle down or leave, Wahler shoved him in the chest and then punched him in the mouth, the police report said. Another person restrained Wahler and removed him from the building, but he came back a short time later.

Two police officers found him passed out on the third floor, reeking of alcohol, and woke him up.

Ok, I’m going to lie, that sounds kind of bad. Well I’m sure you were polite and respectful to the law enforcement officals, right?

Wahler then “repeatedly” called Officer C. DePina, who is not black, a “n—–” and a “f—–,” DePina wrote in the report. “Wahler stated he was rich and would have my ass. Wahler made vague threats to assault officers.”

Oh. Well thats not very good. Here’s my favorite part of the whole article though:

t was not immediately known if Wahler, of Laguna Beach, California, had obtained a lawyer or if he had a publicist. The city attorney’s office has 20 days to file charges, said spokeswoman Ruth Bowman.

I love that part, “if he had a publicist”. How very LA, where having a lawyer AND a publicist is a requirement.
