My predictions for the 2008 NFL Season.

My predictions for the upcoming NFL season.

I’m ready

My good friend The Mexican sent me this video this morning. I could not be more ready for the NFL to start. In honor of the Skins opening training camp today I give you Sean Taylor destroying the punter in last year’s Pro Bowl. Be sure to listen to the end, when you hear the Japanese TV commentary. Redskins win the Super Bowl, you heard it here first.

Updating a previous post on LaVar Arrington’s motorcycle accident, he appears to be doing pretty well and did not break his leg.

LaVar in motorcycle crash

Just got this gchatted to me from my buddy The Cooler. Not good news, hope he’s alright:

LaVar Arrington, a former member of the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, has been seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon.

Prince George’s County Fire tells WTOP that Arrington is in serious condition after the crash near Route 50 and the Capital Beltway.

Channel 9 reports Arrington was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center.

Arrington was drafted by the Redskins out of Penn State in 2000. He was cut by the New York Giants this year after suffering a season-ending foot injury.

Jason La Canfora has more at the WaPo’s Redskins Insider.

Legendary strength coach Chuck Berry (Redux)

Deadspin posted a longer version of the Will Ferrell video I posted earlier here. I’ve put the longer version (the beginning and end are longer) after the jump. It is, again, fantastic.

Legendary strength coach Chuck Berry

That Will Ferrell is pretty good at this whole comedy thing. I hope by now you’ve seen the Landlord video. Here’s a new one that Ferrell is apparently doing for the NFL draft and it is, as expected, hilarious.

Note: I’m experimenting with putting all videos after the so called “jump” (the little click more thing) because that way if they get pulled off youtube they won’t look so ugly on the frontpage. Tell me if thats annoying though.

Big Mistake Brian Moorman

Despite the fact that he clearly shouldn't have been there, Sean Taylor made his presence known at the Pro Bowl with his hit on the punter guy from the Bills being the only noteworthy highlight of the whole game. If only Taylor had made plays like this during the regular season. Best part is when Moorman tries to go out and congratulate Taylor on the play; come on buddy, he knowns he almost killed you, no need to give him props for it.

Undeserved recognition

How is Sean Taylor possibly going to the Pro Bowl? Don't get me wrong, I love the guy and before the year started I though he was on the verge of breaking into that upper echelon with Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu (Roy Williams sucks people) but this year Taylor regressed. He was awful at times and the Redskins secondary as a whole were pretty bad. I guess its gotten to the point where his reputation has far surpassed his current level of play. Thats probably a good thing because I expect him to improve next year (please God, otherwise it could another long year) and having already been to one Pro Bowl his name will now be in the mix, lessening the possibility of a slight. Having said that, no way the guy deserved to go this year.

This is not a good idea

From Michael Wilbon's column today:

But there's somebody Shaq is worried about, somebody who might not be as happy come Sunday night as he might expect. "Have you heard about this guy who paid $2.5 million to buy commercial time to propose?" Shaq asked. "I'm going to offer my advice to this man right now: Don't do it. She might say no on national TV. Don't do it, bro. I've got a bad feeling about this."

Seriously? I'm going to go with Shaq on this one and say this is not the best idea in the world. First off spending $2.5 mill just to ask her is a bit much, don't you think? Second, as Shaq notes, what if she says no? You better be pretty sure of the answer if your going to drop that much coin on a stunt like that. Good luck with all that.
