Quote of the Day

Rosa said that alcohol played a large factor in the groom ending up with someone other than his new wife.

I recently went to a wedding and it would have been pretty cool/useful if they had handed out a “story map” like this that shows he possible occupational, relational, and recreational relationships between guests to be used as a conversational cheat-sheet. (via Jason)

Bound to happen

Spenser and Heidi from the Hills are apparently engaged:

Usmagazine.com has learned exclusively that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are engaged!

Pratt, 23, popped the question to Montag, 20, Tuesday night at the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, says a source who adds: “She said ‘yes.’ She’s over the moon!

The Hills stars, whose controversial courtship was chronicled last season on the hit MTV reality series, have been dating for just eight months.

Pratt purchased the diamond-encrusted platinum band with a pink stone on Monday at Ice at Brentwood Gardens before presenting Montag with his bended-knee proposal, according to a source. An eyewitness at the store tells Us, “She was trying on tons of them and they looked really happy!

Montag was formerly a close friend and roommate of her Hills co-star Lauren Conrad, 21, until Pratt earlier this year urged Montag to move out of Conrad’s apartment and in with him. The couple has not yet set a wedding date.

A rep for MTV told Us: “We do not comment on our stars’ personal lives.

Dating for 8 months, most of it while filming a reality show? No way this doesn’t last a long time I say! Congrats to the happy couple, over/under is now set at 6 months.

Happily ever after

Here’s a happy little wedding story that will just warm your heart:

PATNA, India - Villagers at a wedding in eastern India decided the groom had arrived too drunk to get married, and so the bride married the groom’s more sober brother instead, police said Monday.

“The groom was drunk and had reportedly misbehaved with guests when the bride’s family and local villagers chased him away,” Madho Singh, a senior police officer told Reuters after Sunday’s marriage in a village in Bihar state’s Arwal district.

The younger brother readily agreed to take the groom’s place beside the teenage bride at her family’s invitation, witnesses said.

“The groom apologized for his behavior, but has been crying that word will spread and he will never get a bride again,” Singh said by phone.

I have no more reason to live

The woman I have loved for years has spurned me for another man. The rumors are true, Elizabeth Hurley, star ofElizabeth Hurley an Austin Powers movie, Bedazzeled, and many other classic movies, has married another man (by 'another' I mean not me of course). Here's more, I can't bare to speak about this any longer:

Elizabeth Hurley and her husband, Arun Nayar, arrived Monday to kick off the next leg of their nuptial celebrations - six days of traditional Indian festivities that will culminate in a ceremony at a lavish palace.

Photographers snapped shots of Hurley and Nayar arriving at Mumbai's airport from London early Monday.

The couple were married Friday in a private civil ceremony at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, 125 miles west of London. They held a blessing and party at the castle Saturday evening, with guests including Elton John, Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson and Hurley's ex, Hugh Grant.

And by the way, she's only 42 years old people. Eat your hearts out. At some point this Arun Nayar character is going to slip up and I'll be there, waiting, to scoop her up.

This is not a good idea

From Michael Wilbon's column today:

But there's somebody Shaq is worried about, somebody who might not be as happy come Sunday night as he might expect. "Have you heard about this guy who paid $2.5 million to buy commercial time to propose?" Shaq asked. "I'm going to offer my advice to this man right now: Don't do it. She might say no on national TV. Don't do it, bro. I've got a bad feeling about this."

Seriously? I'm going to go with Shaq on this one and say this is not the best idea in the world. First off spending $2.5 mill just to ask her is a bit much, don't you think? Second, as Shaq notes, what if she says no? You better be pretty sure of the answer if your going to drop that much coin on a stunt like that. Good luck with all that.
